Planning la Quinceañera takes a lot of planning. Some start planning as early as 14. In some traditions, during the process the girl chooses godmothers and godfathers of a particular element. Either it be the cake, the dress or other element. They then are responsible for paying for that element (Fortnight, 2021).

The celebration all comes together with a mixture of family values and traditions. There is pampering where the girl spends the day getting ready with hair, makeup and nails. A toast speech during dinner where the girl can thank everyone for coming. The girl wears flats where then at some point her father switches out her flats for heels signifying the change to womanhood. A gift of a ceramic doll signifies the last toy she will play with as she transitions to her new role (Fortnight, 2021).
